在正常細胞開始異常增生、型態變異進而轉變為癌症前,有一個過渡期,病理學上稱之為「癌前病變」,而胰臟上皮內瘤(以下簡稱PanIN)是胰臟癌中最常見也是最早形成的癌前病變。現今文獻指出,超過90%的胰臟上皮內瘤和胰臟癌病例都有KRAS基因突變的情況。然而,單單KRAS基因的突變就可以驅動最早期PanIN的生成?當然,「真相不只有一個」。
